Our Stories of Success
Some of our Children’s Therapy Corner families share their joys, experiences and “little miracle” stories:
My son has had many setbacks in his life, including Congenital Heart Defects and Autism. After a very complicated surgery, he wasn’t eating but a handful of foods. The Feeding Therapy program at Children’s Therapy Corner has given him and us the tools needed to get him willing to try new foods. He now eats more food and tries new food weekly. It was so helpful, we started our second son in the program.

Joey has been attending CTC for about eighteen months. When he started coming, he could stand but not yet walk, and the use of his right hand was severely limited from cerebral palsy. He also was severely delayed with speech and language. He has made tremendous progress and is now a chatterbox. He loves to sing, tell stories, and read stories. Just this past week he’s discovered that telling grandmas and aunts that he loves them gets him extra hugs. We couldn’t be more pleased with how he’s growing and learning.

The staff at Children’s Therapy Corner is amazing. After just one year, Ella is moving so much more than we ever imagined she would do! We have worked very hard and her therapy has become a family activity. We learned how to include her therapy into our daily activities. Watching all of her frustration turn into absolute pride as she learned how to move has been an emotional roller coaster. All of our hard work has finally paid off. We are grateful for everything CTC has helped Ella accomplish.

Since starting music therapy a year ago, Keegan has made more progress than in any previous year. I knew he was using what he learned when I found out he asked a teacher to “chunk” instructions she read to him!

My son Michael was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. We really
didn’t know where to turn, until we heard about Children’s Therapy Corner.
When we visited the facility and spoke to the executive director, we were
comforted by the fact that the psychology of the program was based on PLAY.
The superior quality of the staff instruction, combined with expert
supervision, has been able to treat my son’s behavioral symptoms while
providing him with a loving and safe learning environment. I believe the
hours my son spends at CTC are enriching his life in a dramatic way and
giving him the fundamental tools for a successful future. Michael is slowly,
but consistently becoming an active participant in the world around him. CTC
has given us constant support, direction, and insight to understand his
behaviors and how best to reach our goals and optimize his potential. I am
forever thankful we found CTC.

Children’s Therapy Corner has been a blessing in our family’s life. At one time or another we have utilized all of the services provided at CTC and have benefited from the dedication and compassion of everyone involved in our treatment plan. I’m not sure where we would be without the staff and services at CTC. Really, I can’t say enough about the positive impact they have made in our lives.

My daughter has been receiving therapy at the Children’s Therapy Corner for over 4 years. During this time she has needed Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Therapy, and Music Therapy. In that time, the entire staff has been very professional, caring, kind, and invested in my daughter’s successes. My daughter is excited for her therapy and has made great strides. I would (have) referred other parents to this facility for their child’s needs!
My husband and I walked first walked into Children’s Therapy Corner Lansing one week after our 2 ½ year old daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We were overwhelmed, confused, scared, sad, anxious and lost.
The staff at CTC walked us through every step to start services. As a stay at home mom, I was very nervous to leave my daughter with “strangers”. But I was able to slowly sneak out of sessions earlier and earlier, until I didn’t have to go in at all. I quickly realized that these amazing people really cared about my daughter and were trustworthy.
We started with speech and occupational therapy. We added music therapy, then physical therapy and finally ABA services (Sandbox). We loved the convenience of having all these services in one location. It was easy to transition her into new services because she was already familiar with the providers from her time in clinic.
The therapists at Children’s Therapy Corner were more than just our daughter’s therapists – they were ours! They laughed with us, celebrated milestones and achievements with us, cried with us, held our hand as we struggled to find the right path and care for our child, and above all: always kept our daughter’s needs a priority. Never once did we feel that they might be recommending services to make money or benefit themselves. It’s always been about our child.
We’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of the CTC Family for over 2 years now. In that time, our child and her behavior has changed dramatically. When we think about where we started and how far we’ve come, her progress has been astounding.
Since her diagnosis, we’ve developed a philosophy about our child: She is a square peg in a round hole world. Our job is not to make her a round peg, but to smooth her edges enough to help her function in this world successfully. In Children’s Therapy Corner, we’ve have found a team of partners who are helping our family and our daughter smooth those edges while keeping her fun, sassy, spunky personality intact.
We will never be able show adequate appreciation of the amazing staff of therapists and administrators that have facilitated our daughters amazing successes.
