Physical Therapy

Pediatric Physical Therapy focuses on helping children with physical impairments that are impacting their mobility, balance, coordination, quality of movement, or age-appropriate gross motor skills. Physical Therapy intervention at Children’s Therapy Corner encompasses a variety of techniques that vary based on the needs of the child. A typical session may include hands on techniques to address limitations in soft tissue mobility; facilitation of optimal postural alignment and muscle recruitment patterns; and/or establish foundational movement patterns such as rolling, crawling, and transitions between positions. Gait training is often used to develop or improve walking and running patterns as well as stair negotiation.

Client and family education are essential components in successful therapy and are utilized regularly including individualized home exercise programs. Therapy embraces a team approach using collaboration with physicians and community providers to secure medical equipment, orthotics, and assistive devices as needed. We apply a client centered approach relying on family involvement to establish an individualized treatment plan with functional, real world application.
